UWI request
Called them back today to get some news from the head director. OOOohhh what a mean woman that was ! She said that the Facility Manager will take care of that and call me back. Mhhh, ok, I'll wait.
Wrote a letter to the Director of Sports requesting support for establishing a Kendo program at UWI. Will drop it there tomorrow and try to meet the person in charge ASAP
Got a reply from Ebihara sensei in New York. He seems very willing to help but the man seems also very busy supporting a bunch of other organisations. Will definitely keep in touch with him.
Went to UWI yesterday to find out more about the process necessary to start a kendo class there. Went to the Administration building, then the Student's Affairs building, then the Marketing and Communications building and finally to the Sports Center... Should have gone straight there ...
I need to write a request letter to the sports program director and take it from there. It doesn't seem too hard, since all the classes are non program-related. The gym is quite large, but the floor sucks (seems like a rubber mat over concrete... aouch).
There's Karate, Taekwando and something called Martial Arts Demo !?!
Went today to the administration building, then the Students' Affairs building, then the Marketing and Communications building, and am now refered to the Sports complex to meet with someone who could help. Not sure if it will be possible to establish an affiliated class there. Affiliated would mean using the campus facilities for free, advertisement,... Non-affiliated would be more of a pain but still possible.
Sent today an email to Katsura Mayumi in Japan. She might help with the Used Bogu Program as she is involved in the Federation.
Sent email to Ebihara sensei in New York. He is head teacher of the Kendo dojo in Venezuela. Asked him for pointers on setting up a dojo here and federation.
Sent email to the Venezuela Kendo Federation with similar questions.
